Better Together: Talking + Tweaking = Timesaving Module Upgrades

As our eBASE Customer Support Team engages with users, their ears are always open for feedback that could help improve our portfolio of facilities management modules. While every client’s facilities management situation is unique, many share the common challenge of trying to accomplish a growing list of tasks with an increasingly time-stretched team. In our conversations with clients, when we sense an opportunity that could save their team time by streamlining processes, we dig in with our programming experts to investigate creative solutions. Here are just two recent examples where talking with clients generated some timesaving tweaks to eBASE modules.

Asset API

Keeping organizational asset documentation up to date is a time-intensive task that is important for a number of different teams. While the Finance team needs to track each item’s value, the Maintenance team needs to be able to easily locate asset information like maintenance schedules, warranty information, user guides, past repair work and more. To help ensure the accuracy of the ever-evolving collection of organizational asset information, eBASE created an Asset API, or Application Programming Interface. The new Asset API allows information to be easily updated and shared between users.

Now, as employees create records for their organizational assets in their internal asset tracking system, that information is fed directly to eBASE, where it gets generated as a live asset as well. Everything that happens to that asset over time is then tracked and updated and available for all users to see, including:

  • Asset value
  • Warranty details
  • User guides
  • Preventative maintenance schedules
  • Work orders
  • Repairs
  • Replacements
  • Moves
  • Ongoing costs

Lockdown life in 2020 and 2021 inspired an even greater need for online training solutions. As employees participate in a broader range of online learning courses, having a central place to assign and track employee participation and completion is critical. Recognizing the need to streamline the rapidly changing online training landscape, eBASE updated the Safe Workplace module to serve as a hub for all learning activities.

In addition to supporting in-house learning courses, the eBASE Safe Workplace module now integrates and supports courses that offered by third-party learning management companies and adhere to SCORM standards. SCORM, which stands for Shareable Content Object Reference Model, is the set of technical industry standards for eLearning software that ensures learning management systems communicate well with each other. Whether it’s an in-house training course or an online course offered through a third-party, training administrators can now quickly and easily assign courses and track course licensing, employee participation and completion of every course through the eBASE Safe Workplace module.
