Surefoot Mechanical Inc. is a family-owned and operated electrical contracting business in Ontario. Over the years, it’s grown from a small, single pick-up truck operation to a busy business with a fleet of nine trucks and a talented crew who pride themselves on using the best tools on the market.

Finding The Right Solution

Surefoot first learned about ebase while working as a contractor for the Durham District School Board and Durham Catholic School Board. As a company committed to client satisfaction, Surefoot had experimented with other work order systems in the past but found them to be inefficient. Impressed by the simplicity and practicality of the ebase Work Order Module that its school board clients were using, Surefoot decided it was worth a try.

Two years later, Surefoot continues to use the ebase Work Order Module to manage all its electrical and mechanical contracting work.

Simple Inventory Tracking

Functionality, like inventory management, helps Surefoot track the status of supplies on their trucks and at the shop. Employees can quickly tag items to work orders with the same codes used in the company’s accounting software, which makes the billing process much easier and faster.

According to the Office Manager at Surefoot, Ashely Colleran,

“Having a system that employees can log into at any time not only keeps our time and material accurate, but it also helps us with invoicing because everything on the work order is neat and organized.”

One Solution for Every Need

Since adopting the Work Orders module, Surefoot has also incorporated several other complementary ebase modules. The Surefoot team now uses Digital Logbooks Module to help manage and track daily COVID-19 procedures, as well as scissor lift and vehicle inspections. 

Surefoot employees appreciate that the Timesheets Module allows them to track time on each work order and feeds that information into their timesheets for supervisor approval. 

This functionality means it takes less time to record their hours and reduces the risk of forgetting the various jobs they’ve spent time throughout the day. 

Moving Forward

Next up on Surefoot’s ease to-do list is streamlining their ordering process with the ebase Supplies Module. The Supplies Module will help automate their system, so when inventory is running low, materials will get ordered automatically to ensure they never run out of stock.
